NEW leaders will be welcomed to the Salvation Army in Portsmouth next month.
The Salvation Army in Lake Road will welcome Majors Cedric and Lyn Hills to oversee the organisation's work.

For the past six years Cedric has led the Salvation Army's International Emergency Services section, which provides humanitarian support to victims of major disasters in places such as Iraq, India, Kenya and Peru.

Cedric's wife Lyn's most recent appointment was as commanding officer of the Salvation Army in Basildon.

The married couple will be leaving behind two grown-up daughters in Essex when they move next month.

Major Cedric Hills said: 'We are delighted to be appointed to lead Portsmouth Citadel Corps and we are really looking forward to getting to know the people of this lovely city.'

The couple will be welcomed and installed as the new corps officers in a ceremony on Sunday, August 10 at 10am at the Lake Road citadel.
