School run fines issued

Parents on the school run were handed £60 fines today.

Four drivers were handed on-the-spot fines and penalty points after parking too close to the school gates.

The schools targeted were Meon Infant School and Meon Junior School in Milton and Wimborne Junior School in Southsea.

Parents and teachers had complained drivers were parking on yellow zigzag lines outside the school entrances.

The fines aren't high enough!

What the school should be doing is banning any parent who lives within a mile of the school from driving their kids there.
That would probably cut the 'school run' to less than a half.
Schools and colleges are just not proactive enough in changing the parents habits and it is the parents that cause so many problems with their kids.

I can understand that if you live a long way from school you have to drive them there, but loads of them on the school run, live just walking distance. Walking is good exercise, its free and everyone benefits. I'm glad they are fining lazy people.
