A Portsmouth teenager has been recognised for his marksmanship and been told he is destined for great things.
Private Alex Orford, 18, from Cosham, won the Best Shot award after completing his Army training.

He passed the gruelling 26-week combat infantryman's course at Catterick, in North Yorkshire and was judged to be the best shot in his platoon.

His platoon commander, Lieutenant Brian Rose, said: 'Being named Best Shot is a crowning achievement, a true honour for a talented recruit.

'I'm sure success will follow as Private Orford begins his career.'

Pte Orford will now join the 1st Battalion, The Princess of Wales' Royal Regiment – known as The Tigers – in Germany initially.
