Portugal didn't know what had hit it, writes Ruth Scammell who made the journey over to Porto yesterday morning alongside hundreds of fans.
As the plane touched down in Porto, the travelling posse suddenly burst out in song.

Despite arriving at London Stansted at 4.30am, the Pompey supporters were sure to make themselves known in Portugal, as chants of Play up Pompey and We're all going on a European tour could be heard outside Arrivals.

Having only been in the country half an hour, the fans were already marking their territory, and letting the Portuguese know that they are serious about their football.
Being a Pompey fan

myself the hairs started to go on the back of my neck as I suddenly realised that this was not a dream and that Pompey were actually playing an away match in Europe.
Let's just hope the boys run out on to that pitch tonight and do their fans proud.
