Milton is an expanding community in the heart of Portsea Island.

Portmouth’s Portsea Island has had a growing population for many hundreds of years, so finding space for new homes has long been at a premium.

According to Property Detective, this area is a good place to settle and raise a family, with a score of 54 out of a possible 100. This places it in the top 60% of all places nationally.

However, in the heart of Milton – virtually in the centre of the Island – a recent development is proving to be something of a magnet for families, featuring modern homes which are very popular with buyers.

Hilary Landey, from Town and Country Southern Estate Agents, explains that one property in Church Way which recently came onto the market at £298,950 quickly went under offer.

Fortunately, help is at hand for disappointed potential buyers, as she now has another available in Guardians Way, slightly more expensive, but this time a link detached rather than a semi.

“Living in the heart of a community is an appealing idea, and as Milton is virtually in the centre of Portsea Island, it’s in the heart of things with regard to all that goes on around it,” says Hilary.

“There are good local facilities and transport links, while the modern construction and remaining eight years on new home warranties on these Bellway Homes properties should give reassurance that there shouldn’t be any big or unexpected repair bills in the offing.

“Milton is set at the end of Eastern Road where it turns in towards the centre of the city, so there’s a lovely drive out of town along the side of Langstone Harbour to the A27, M27, and A3M.

“Fratton station is also within easy reach for those who favour the train.

“As well as these newer homes that helped relieve pressure on the city’s housing stock, there are many delightful older homes from Victorian and Edwardian housing expansion to give a good mix of terraces and villas.

“It’s an area with a real sense of community where house prices start at little more than £200,000 and rise to around £550,000 to £600,000.”
