Firefighters have been told they cannot fly the St George's flag because it may offend other nationalities.
Fire crews have had to remove the iconic red cross flag from their vehicles and buildings after fire chiefs rolled out the blanket ban.
The move is the latest barmy World Cup ban to hit the area, coming just weeks after the police told drivers not to attach flags to windows.
The man behind the ban is the brigade's area manager and head of operational delivery, Kevin Butcher.
Mr Butcher sent a memo to firefighters that said: 'The display of any flags, stickers or advertising material other than that approved by the service is not permitted on any vehicles or premises owned by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.'
The memo stunned many firefighters.
Among them is Jim Buck, the crew manager at Gosport station, who believes crews should be free to support Beckham and the boys in Germany.
He said: 'It's not good for morale – let me just put it that way. It's political correctness gone way over the top. It's very unpatriotic not being able to do stuff like fly the flag.'
And Fareham firefighter James Couch agreed.
He added: 'I'm sure there are some people with strong opinions about this, and I'm sure the public wouldn't mind at all.'
A Hampshire brigade spokeswoman said it was not just the England flag that was banned but all paraphernalia. She added: 'It is to promote us as an open organisation and reflect our corporate identity. It's about promoting a professional appearance.'
