Pompey face one of their toughest tests of the season on Saturday.
The Blues travel to the midlands to take on in-form Aston Villa.

Martin O'Neill's men have lived up to their pre-season billing as one of the clubs who could challenge the so-called 'big four'.

Villa's boss has put together a strong side who have made a solid start to the campaign and are unbeaten on home soil.

Pompey are on a fine run themselves, though. Can they repeat their fantastic 3-1 victory in the same fixture last season?

After the international break, who should Harry Redknapp select in his starting XI - and what formation would be best?

With John Carew and Gabby Agbonlahor forming Villa's dangerous attack, how can the Blues keep the duo quiet?

And what is your score prediction?

Whatever your views on the clash, leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

Who should Harry start at Aston Villa? Probabaly team will pick itself as we dont have many more than 11 fit players at the moment. Lets keep our fingers crossed that none of the England boys come back with any niggles.
I know its a shame for them but if Capello keeps them on the bench it can only be good for us.

it is a game we are capable of winning on our day, but i would be delighted with a point away at villa.

Going to be a difficult game, think we need to concentrate on the conuter attacting fooball with this team. They have a lot of good playiers who like to push forwards. May be a diffrent formation like 4-1-3-1-2. If Kaboul plays as a sitter just infront of the back for keeping Carew busy and then that lets Disten and Cambell free to keep there other forward underwraps, with there wide men our boys will know how to cope with them, personally i would keep a tight middle with Dirra(If fit), Davis and Huges (if fit)with Arnold supporting the estasblished fron two. And when we defend we do so as a 8 man defence an when we attach we do so as a 6 man with the option of our wide boys offering width.I know this means leaving out Trore but we need to be flixable and offer something diffrent from time to time. We can always change to add more width if needed. With the squad being thin as it is i think we should tell certain players that come Jan they will be sold if they dont buck there ideas up and prove there worth to the club.

A tough one this. Villa have been looking on form, and to be fair, if there's one team - apart from us - that have a decent chance of challenging the big four this season, I'd rather it was Villa than man city, considering Villa have got where they are because like us they've put in a lot of hard work and not had some oil-selling sheikh buy their club and throw umpteen millions at them.

I'd be happy with a draw and a point, but I have a bad feeling that this one will be chalked up a lose to us. We haven't got the strongest squad at the moment due to injuries, and with our dynamic duo, Jamo and Johnson returning from the international break probably a bit weary, we may struggle.

But let's not write ourselves off just yet. Anything's possible.

Yeah i'd echo those sentiments PBP. Villa are a really good side and young and agbonlahor in particular will feel they have a point to prove for not being called up to the national side.
A point would be good but after last season anything less than 3 would still seem a slight dissapointment. Am i the only person who feels a bit frustrated when we don't win every game?? ha ha
At least the England las should have had a good rest not getting played and all.

If you look at the villa side they are very similar to us in many ways in personel and style of play. so this saturday will be a tough game. How harry will approach this remains to be seen, we had a great result up there last time playing 451 but with both our strikers on form we cant afford to drop either! so do we go with a counter attacking 352 or try and go toe to toe in a 442?
Have a feeling we may go with the wing backs, but i suppose that will down to who we have fit to play in midfield? but we must not let our defence move up to far as we all witnessed against City what a team with pace can do to us?
The plus side with 442 and if Utaka is fit is that we can have a go at Shorey as i believe him to be the weak link in there defence?
Lets hope Harry has the answer, should be a good game and plenty of goals, but would take a draw all day. PUP

I think the game will be decided upon who scores first.
If we score first I think we will be very hard to beat.
If Villa score first I can see us going down 2-0.
So I hope we score first and do em like we did last year !

once again first goals are crucial. Villa are a strong side and have definetly kept there good run of from going from last season. Although we did the double on them last season i thinks its gonna be tough to replicate and with Diarra out i think we will be relying on belhadj and traore to provide the attacking threat/ link up play with crouch and defoe.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
