Borough's second-half surrender

Gosport Borough manager Alex Pike has set himself the task of identifying why his squad continue to underachieve against teams like Abingdon United who were allowed to recover a two-goal deficit and escape from Privett Park with a 2-2 draw.
With the gulf of class between the sides, Borough should have gone in at the interval with the match already won.
But, as several glorious chances went begging, all they had to show for 45 minutes of graft was a goal apiece from Andy Culliford and Tom McCormick.
Such was Borough's domination that the nearest the Berkshire visitors came to a goal early on was when striker Anaclet Odhiambo wriggled free only to blaze wildly over with just keeper Nick Hutchings to beat.
But Odhiambo kept his cool on 50 minutes to blast Abingdon back in the match, sending Hutchings the wrong way from the penalty spot after substitute Jim Deabill was upended by a now panic-stricken Borough rearguard.
Then as the wind strengthened and the rain finally came in torrents, Borough's hopes of three points were washed down the drain as Abingdon's Luke Holden turned neatly in the area and rammed home an equaliser on 85 minutes.
Only then did Borough wake up to realise their nightmare performance had been a reality – with the wrath of their manager yet to be faced in the dressing room.
'I'm both furious and disappointed we have drawn against a poor Abingdon side who will finish the season near the bottom of the league table, said Pike.
'I told my players afterwards they really aren't good enough if we are going to have a season of not finishing teams off as we should have done.
'With all due respect to Abingdon, they always will finish below the halfway point in the league and if we are to progress as a club in the Southern League, we need to beat them and teams like them.
'It was one of those games where, despite the opposition, we needed to play to high Southern League standards.
'Individually or collectively they weren't good enough.'
