Sol Campbell's has left Notts County after making only one appearance for the club.
The 35-year-old former Pompey skipper agreed a five-year deal at Meadow Lane at the start of this month for a reported £40,000 a week after leaving Fratton Park at the end of last season.

The former Arsenal and Tottenham defender asked to leave the club and said his goodbyes to team-mates after last Saturday's 2-1 loss at Morecambe.

Executive chairman Peter Trembling said Campbell 'could not adjust to the long-term nature of the project under way at Notts County'.

Former England defender Campbell was the most high-profile recruit to the playing staff this summer following County's takeover by Munto Finance and Sven-Goran Eriksson's arrival as director of football.

The takeover deal is now being investigated by the Football League and Campbell now appears to have had a change of heart after his solitary appearance for the club.

Poor old Sol. My heart bleeds for him. Such a friendly chap. He only went to Notts County for one reason - to get back in the England team. He's let the manager down, Sven down, the directors down, the fans down, and, most importantly, Sol Campbell down. He MUST be so proud of himself. It was NEVER going to work. He's never played in the real world of football, which is outside the ridiculously overrated Premier League. I don't know he will make ends meeet now.

just a thought from my side, get him back to FP, offer him a 1 year contract to play when needed, and the chance to become a member of the coaching team, he was and probably still is a big influence to have around the place and who better to get the defence sorted out while preparing for his future, because lets all be honest, his playing days at 35 are really coming to the end? Today's Vote

With Lawrence and Kitson on board, where will Pompey finish this season?
Automatic promotion is now on.
Pompey will soar up the table and book a play-off spot.
The new recruits will see us safe in mid-table.
Can't see anything other than a relegation battle but we'll survive.
We're doomed to League One.
