Peter Crouch has won the battle to claim Pompey's third Goodison Park goal.
The club-record signing was credited with the goal after the Blues asked the Premier League to adjudicate.

Debate had been raging since Saturday's clash after Jermain Defoe's chip hit the bar and bounced on the line before Crouch followed up to head home.

Video replays later proved the ball had in fact crossed the line and the goal was Defoe's.

However, at the time both referee Mark Halsey and his linesmen failed to catch a clear view and the ball was officially still in play when Crouch netted.

According to Premier League rules, video evidence is not allowed to judge goals.

Instead, it is up to match officials at the time to judge whether a ball has crossed the line.

Yet more incompetancy from the Premier league. It was so obvious the ball had crossed the line. Not being able to use video evidence to judge goals is just totally ridiculous!!

What about the dubious goals committee then, don't they use video? or do they do it from memory, maybe by writing to season ticket holders with seats near the goal in question, and asking them to recall who they felt scored. This is rubbish. Of course they use video.

It so clearly was Defoe's goal! Although I'm hoping that Crouchie 'scoring' his first Pompey goal (in his second spell) will spark a glut of goals from him. It will do his confidence no harm at all.

I don't know if some of you have seen different coverage than I have, but it didn't seem that convincing on MOTD

With all the technology about today, don't you think the clowns who oppose it must live on a different planet. The amount of money that hinges on decisions made by inadequate Linesman and Referees appointed by these clowns, and the jobs of managers and staff. The game is now to fast for Referees to keep up with,so it's now time to help them.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
