PAPA BOUBA Diop is sweating on his place in Pompey's FA Cup final midfield.
The giant Senegal midfielder is under pressure for his spot in the engine room as Harry Redknapp mulls over his tactical options, with Pedro Mendes and Sean Davis both pushing hard for selection if the Blues boss plumps, as expected, for a 4-5-1 formation.

With David James and Sol Campbell both recovered from injury, Redknapp will announce the team at a briefing to the players tomorrow morning.

But barring any late injury scares, just one place is realistically up for grabs in the line-up.

Earlier this week, Redknapp hinted he is set to revert to the 4-5-1 formation that has served the team so well away from home, which would see Kanu start as the sole striker.

My money is on Mendes, he likes to collect the ball and usually passes to one of our players unlike Mr Diop

Got to be mendez!! We need a playmaker in the centre. Maybe krancjar and utaka will have better service then.

Come on Mendes! It will be important to dominate possesion and mendes is key to this, otherwise Davis would be a good choice too.

Harry picked his team six weeks ago - and with a fully fit squad, I doubt if he will make any changes. Diop will start - Mendes will replace him after half-time (and hopefully when we have an unassailable lead) ;-)

Yes, Diop is a stopper and Mendes can sometimes be physically brushed aside. Mendes is able to control the ball first time in tight situations and make that telling pin-point pass, abilities which Diop seems to lack. No-one can forget Mendes' shooting power whereas Diop's has been awry all season. Mendes' ability to correctly weight through passes to a refocussed Utaka (please, let's be positive just before the final) could be decisive.

Who reckons kanu will get a full game? Bit worried with the lack of pace. But utaka and krancjar should take care of that, and with mendez's pin point passing and kanu holding the ball well, utaka and krancjar should have a good time on the wings running in.

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
