Hampshire's hopes of Pro40 League success were dealt a major blow after their showdown with Worcestershire was abandoned because of the weather.
Dimi Mascarenhas' side have rediscovered their winning formula in recent weeks, but they were denied their chance to record a fifth straight victory in the competition by a waterlogged Rose Bowl pitch.

After several inspections and the best efforts of the ground staff, the game was eventually abandoned without a ball being bowled.

With both Sussex and Nottinghamshire breathing down their necks, the Hawks needed a win and to rely on other results going their way over the next week.

But it now seems likely that Hampshire will be overhauled at the top of the table, if Sussex and Nottinghamshire can beat the weather in their remaining fixtures.

how on earth in a league of nine teams can one team (ie hants) finish their 8 fixtures while other teams have up to three games left. surely this gives the likes of notts an unfair advantage, knowing what they have to do. and if hants cv worcs was scheduled for midweek, ie nearer to the end of the fixtures, the weeather may have allowed them to actually play it. seems very unfair..

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
