David James is '100 per cent confident' England will avoid a repeat of their Zagreb horror show.
Fabio Capello's men head back to the scene of Paul Robinson's infamous air kick on Wednesday for their World Cup qualifier.

It's been two years since that incident which led to a 2-0 defeat.

The result left Steve McClaren's side having to play catch-up for the remainder of the Euro 2008 qualifying campaign.

Ultimately, a 3-2 loss in the reverse fixture at Wembley in November sealed their fate – and cost McClaren his job.

Pompey keeper James was a virtual spectator in England's 2-0 win over Andorra at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona on Saturday, which also saw Blues team-mates Jermain Defoe and Glen Johnson start.

And he is adamant there will be no repeat heartache when the Three Lions tackle Croatia in a key group six clash.

James said: 'Croatia are a decent side but I am 100 per cent confident we are good enough to get something out of the game.

'People go on about last time – but this isn't last time. What is different now? We have a decent organisation behind us and I am sure we will be prepared for this one.

'The manager is no frills and fuss, he says it the way that he sees it and wants it.

'For a player at international level, you need to know what is expected of you and there can be no ambiguity.

'He's been very clear. He's had a go at me a few times in training over things but I would much rather know that he is unhappy than walk away wondering what he's thinking.

'Mr Capello's straight, frank manner is superb.'

coatia 2 england 1. also what did people make of Harry saying no croatia player would make it in to the England team, thats got to knock Kranjkar confidence, and he's been such a dedicated blue for the last three seasons. Shame really!

Great comment by Harry, above all he's English & not afraid to admit it.

Bit disrespectful and unnecessary in my opinion. Even without having one of their players in the pompey squad. It'll just make them work harder to beat us.

No croatian players would get in the England team because they wouldn't qualify! I hope England win on wednesday, but they still seem to disappoint at the crucial time PUE

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
