DAVID JAMES has already got his hands on some silverware this week after scooping The News & Sports Mail Player of the Year title.
The Pompey keeper has his eyes on lifting the FA Cup for the first-ever time in his career at Wembley on Saturday.

In the meantime, he has one trophy already to keep him company.
Readers of The News chose James as their star of the season following another outstanding campaign.

It was richly deserved during a year in which he reclaimed his England spot and been the backbone of Pompey's best top-flight season for more than half a century.

Sylvain Distin provided fierce competition following his eye-catching maiden season on the south-coast during which he's missed out on just two matches.

But it was James who emerged as the victor, retaining the trophy he captured last season.

Let's just hope it won't be the last.

ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE FANS?

VICTOR MELDREW ARE YOU A POMPEY FAN IN DISGUISE? Christ makes you wonder if there is something in the water down in Pompey cause Ive never known so many moaning pillocks in all my life.....I hate to say it but looks like our fan base isnt as instrumental as we all think and certainly not the 12th man we need right now.....What if we get success at the expensive of that loyal following we had all those years even when fighting relegation we had a smile on our face and sung our hearts out.....ARE WE GOING TO TURN OUT LIKE THE MOANING SCOUSERS?

One foot in the grave fans please go support someone else or start relising what a fantastic season we have had and with the icing on the cake to come :-)

Bluearmyman you have hit the nail on the head. i have never herd so much moaning and wineing all the time i have been a Pompey fan (48yrs). These so called fan make me sick 8th & cup final What more do they want? (Note to Harry next season you must play to win every game at least 3-0 home and away, no negative comments, and win every cup going) And do that and you will only get a few who think we should have done better

Totally agree with these two guys... we've had a very successful season.

I voted for James. He has just shown his worth in the last three games - he's been out and we've lost them all... no coincidence me thinks.

Fantastic season Jamo. You thoroughly desrve all of those awards.

Let's hope you are fit enough to play in the cup final, keep a clean sheet and run up 107 steps to be presented with a cup winners medal.
