DAVE JONES cranked up the FA Cup heat on Pompey and insisted: The pressure is on them.
Cardiff face Harry Redknapp's side in Saturday's Wembley showpiece, eyeing another Premier League scalp.
The Championship side represent the underdog element against a Blues team packed with internationals.
It's a situation which delights former Southampton manager Jones.
And the relaxed Bluebird boss is looking ahead to the challenge of inflicted more misery on a side who have suffered four-successive defeats.
He said: 'They are the Premier League club, they are expected to win so there is probably more pressure on them.
'We will put some pressure on ourselves with the expectations we have within the club.
'We will go there in good confidence and give it a go, otherwise there would be no point in us turning up.
'And if we perform to the best of our ability and get that little bit of luck – which is what they will need as well – then hopefully it will be our day. The players are all chomping at the bit and everyone is looking forward to it.'
Meanwhile, reports Pompey's stars will earn more than three times that of their Cardiff counterparts for winning the FA Cup have been dismissed.
The Bluebirds are on record club bonuses of £8,000 a man to win at Wembley.
However, the squad have missed out on even greater riches as all contract details must, under Football Association rules, be thrashed out before the start of the season. Once agreed, they can not be altered.
Stories emanating from Wales claim Pompey's squad will bank around £25,000 each if they take the FA Cup back to the south coast for the first time since 1939.
But Gary Double, the Blues' director of communications, insisted figures have not been made public.
He said: 'We would not comment on any financial details of players, that is private.'
