Omar 'OJ' Krumah will become Harry Redknapp's latest summer signing following his sizzling Pompey impact.
The Gambian teenager arrived on trial a fortnight ago in a bid to break into the Premier League.

He caught the eye when he marked his Blues debut against Exeter by winning the penalty which secured the visitors a 1-1 draw.

Krumah followed that up with two assists in his 45 minutes at Swindon last Friday and also turned out against Dorchester earlier in the week.

Now Redknapp has confirmed the pacy striker will be rewarded for his superb start with a Pompey deal.

Yet, while Blues boss believes it is too early to blood him into the Premier League he has high hopes for the future.

He said: 'OJ has done well, he's only 18 and I think he's a real prospect.

'We're hoping to now get something done and keep him here permanently because I like him.

'He was at Southampton last year, they wanted him but could not get a work permit but he's married now so that's no longer a problem.

'The lad was recommended to me so we had him over for the last couple of weeks and he's been tremendous.

'He's quick and has got a lot of everything.

'The kid wants to do well, he's willing to learn and hopefully he can do well here.

'I have already had half a dozen clubs wanting to play him this season, most of them are from the Championship.

'He's not ready for the Premier League but he's still young so his time can come.'

Fantastic - another youth signing. The more we make of those, the greater the chance will be of a couple of them making it in the Premier League. I don't think we should be expecting players to get into the first team too soon though; I think it'll be around 2 years before we really see some players coming through and playing Premier League games. When they do come through, though, it'll be a cheap and valuable source of players - exactly what we need.

If Harry needs somebody that can produce that deadly ball into the opponents area then david Bentley would be the ideal signing, break the bank Pompey get another english man!!

dont want bentley he's all about the money, and he wont come here. anyway didnt you see him playing with Johson for england, the boy's got no vision, jonno made loads of overlapping runs and he just ignored him. Arrogant and blinded by money IMO

...Why would we spend all our remaining transfer money on a wideman with no pace (The main thing we need) and whose only real ability is passing/crossing (Something Little is perfectly good at). Plus the man's an arrogant prat who would walk around thinking he was better than everyone else, not good for the dressing room. Harry would have to be nuts to go for him, Wright-Phillips is a far better option, and cheaper.

good signing, but i think that harry is always saying the young stars arent ready for the prem yet, the duffy's ect, i know duffy aint that good but he never really gave him a real chance, the likes of oj, sahar ect need to be thrown in the deep end, going on loan doesnt always work, look at rooney, ronaldo, ect got let loose produced, it made them beter players, and the higher the standard the more these youngsters rise to it, time to give them a real chance harry, and we might just find that real gem.........fact

He could be the new Collins Mbesuma. Harry needs to watch him like a hawk in the canteen.

Collins Mbesuma was older and fatter when we got him. Plus, Bolton turned their noses up at him! I'm not saying this lad is destined to be a Premier League star, that would be jumping the gun a bit, but Harry Redknapp is certainly a better manager than Perrin and also a manager who brought through players like Defoe, Ferdinand, Joe Cole etc... I trust Harry to know what to do with a young player.
