Strike duo Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe were once again the men to deliver the goods in front of goal either side of half-time, while former Blues forward Ricardo Fuller replied for Stoke.

But Stoke were a threat all day from set-pieces - particularly from Rory Delap's long throw-in - and Fuller grabbed an equaliser as he bundled in from close range just two minutes after the interval.
But despite their midweek exertions, Pompey were in no mood to toss two points away and Defoe struck the winner and his sixth of the season in the 51st minute with a low drive, just moments after crashing a long-range effort against the post.
