Pompey target Nathan Dyer has been banished from first-team training as he stalls over a new Southampton contract.
The 20-year-old winger is out of contract and is currently on a week-to-week deal.

Saints have table a new contract to persuade Dyer to commit his future to the club - but he has so far refused to sign.

New head coach Jan Poortvliet has reacted by excluding him from first-team training unless he pledges his long-term future with the club.

Poortvliet made the decision after speaking with Dyer and insisted he can only have players with total commitment in his first-team squad.

Another young player that would be worth a punt by Harry. Presumably he knows what Dyer is capable of from his spell up the road. Let the Sc*mmers unearth them and we'll turn them into proper footballers.

They can have their over rated untested foreigners, we will take their half decent English talent off their hands gladly.... We should wait until he has done his Community Service though before signing him!

Rather have SWP than Dyer. Seems as though we are scraping the barrel rather than attracting top premiership class!!! Common Harry pull out a top notch signing!

Now we have Ben Sahar from Chelsea for 6 months do we need Dyer as well??? Or is it just to cover Dyers prison sentence????

Agreed! Iknow we need a bigger squad for next season, but surely we need to spread the squad players across the whole team?!?! This bloke is too much like SWP+neither him or little are really going to be challenging utaka or kranjar? lets get swp in, then utaka can play through the middle or on the wing whenever the wingers need a rest?

If we do end up gettin crouch and keep kanu, then i can see all 4(including utaka) of them doin well together

so far we have signed little, sahar on loan, and talks of dyer............imo, championship players......with europe ect, think we need to be looking at the bigger players, little is like hughsie, not a bad player but not really class, and to improve we do need clas players......im sure it will happen......

Should salary caps be introduced to stop the threat of a financial crisis in football?
Yes - our game is in danger of going bust
