Harry Redknapp has spoken of his frustration at not being able to right the wrongs of Pompey's Chelsea mauling.
The Blues boss admitted he faces a frustrating week with his squad decimated by injury and international call-ups.

Redknapp is desperate to work with his men to eradicate the defensive errors which led to their downfall at Stamford Bridge.

He said: 'It was a bad performance at Chelsea, but one bad day doesn't make us a bad team. We need a good response against United and have to come back strong.

'We'll try, but it won't be easy. I would rather the players weren't away all week on international duty.'

One player who isn't away with his country this week is Peter Crouch.

He was omitted from the England squad for tomorrow's clash with the Czech Republic.
Redknapp admitted he was surprised at the decision.

He said: 'It's disappointing that Crouchie isn't in the England squad.

'I was surprised, but there's not a lot I can do because I don't pick the squad.'
England boss Fabio Capello offered the striker words of encouragement, though.

'I'm happy for Crouch because now he can play more games,' he said. 'If a player plays only one game a month it's not enough. You lose the confidence. This is very important for everything.'

Meanwhile, Pompey have been linked with Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah.
Appiah is hoping to become a free agent and is trying to negotiate his exit from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

And reports in France say Pompey have moved closer to a deal for Nadir Belhadj.

Belhadj is reported to have agreed a four-year-deal with the Blues for a fee eventually rising to £3m.

That is what makes a great team bouncing back, take the good with the bad and move on and not dwell on it.
So hopefully when Pompey are at or near the top the news won't be still printing articles about how we got crushed by Chelsea and how Harry was seen down at Asdas trying to find some new players.

SWP is still on the radar as a loan.

It's a postitive response from Rednapp. Good to see he's taken it on the chin and come back fighting. Let's hope he learns from the loss, and the tactical errors, does something about it squadwise and we end up in a higher position than last season.

Pompey are unable to loan SWP as we currently already have Ben Sahar on loan from Chelsea. I heard on Sky Sports News that the only way we can get SWP is by sending Sahar back to Chelsea.

To back Pompey's stadium plans at Horsea Island sign this petition:-

I say send back Sahar if that's what it takes to get SWP. We have Nugent and Kanu as reserve strikers plus I wouldn't mind seeing Utaka given a striker role. He can't do any worse than he does on the right of midfield !!

So is there any news on the 2 key pieces of this article...
Stephen Appiah - a very good midfielder who apparently is getting fifa invovled to quash his Fenerbahce contract...He is back fit again and would be an excellent addition to someones squad.

And the left sided Nadir Belhadj any noise this side of the channel?

We Can Do It

Today's Vote

Is Tony Adams right to make changes to the Pompey side who beat Blackburn?
Adams should stick to the side that earned him his first win at Fratton Park
He should only change things around if there are injuries
If Campbell and Kranjcar are fit they should start
Davis deserves a starting role after his heroics against Blackburn
With a heavy fixture schedule coming up, changes are needed
