Peter Crouch's Blues switch is a step closer after Liverpool accepted a fresh Portsmouth bid.
The long-running pursuit of the England man is finally set to end with the striker poised to undergo a medical.

The clubs have thrashed out a deal worth up to £11m - now the loose ends need tying up.

'We have reached a verbal agreement with Portsmouth and have given them permission to speak with Peter,' a spokesman told the club's website.

Crouch left Blues in March 2002 after scoring 19 goals in 39 games and has since go on to play for Villa, Norwich, Southampton and Liverpool.

It wouldn't have been so long ago that Pompey securing the services of Peter Crouch would have been viewed as a 'tall order'

It seems to good to be true! England's strike-force lining up for Pompey! Who dared dream of such a thing a decade ago!

i canny believe it. I would have only dreamed of signings like SWP, crouch and defoe a couple of years ago but now they are a reality. who knows in a few years maybe we will be attracting even bigger guns to our humble abode. Villa at pompey maybe even a cheeky fabragas.

Great news if we get him today as expected.I think we should go for lita from reading, I also think we should loan out the nug to one of the new prem teams to get experience, if he does well then we'll either have him back or sell him as his price would be better then it is at mo. We got to get either bridge or shorey, I'd rather bridge. Also make a push for swp, get a young talented centre back to eventually replace sol. If we get all our targets and keep are top players we got in the side then we are going to be a real force next season. PUP PUP PUP HERE A PUP EVERYWHERE A PUP PUP.
