DARREN BOND took the honours as the ISAC hosted round eight of the Southern Premier League at Hillhead, near Fareham.
The battle raged from 8pm to 1am, with 44 anglers competing for glory.
Conditions were fair, which was a real boost for the contestants after a week of wet and windy weather.
The match was fished in three zones: from the end of the beach huts to up around the point on Chilling – peg 60.
More than 200 fish were recorded on the night for a total weight of 22lb 14oz.
That tally was made up of one black bream, nine gilthead bream, one tub gurnard, four silver eel, four sole and 190 top-ups.
Bond, the 2008 individual champion from Lancing, won zone C from peg 42, placed just to the left of the point, with the best overall weight in the match at 2lb 7oz.
Bond’s match-winning haul included two gilthead bream, with his best at 12oz, and a sole – along with 11 top-ups.
This was Bond’s first match victory in the SPL – a win that secured him the top cash prize of £130, and the ISAC round eight champions trophy and certificate.
Runner-up in the competition was Les Barstow from Gosport who landed the heaviest fish of the match – a silver eel of 1lb 11oz.
Barstow, fishing from peg 37 in zone B, also caught three top-up bass to take his first zone win in the SPL.
He also collected £115 in prize money for his efforts.
The final podium place went to zone A winner Mike Groves, from Kingston, Surrey.
From peg 14, Groves landed a gilthead bream, a silver eel and five top-ups for a total weight of 1lb 1oz, winning a £100 cash prize.
Double individual champion Steve Harder leads the overall individual championship on 34 points and 23lb 10oz, 4dms in weight.
Harder secured two points in round eight.
Steve Deathe is second overall on 47 points and 10lb 4oz 12dms in weight, while Mike Brown maintained his third place position on 48 points and 17lb 2oz 8dms.
