Charlie Burns took the honours in the MBK Leisures Junior Open at Coloured Ponds on Saturday.

The youngster, who was fishing in the nine to 12-year-olds age group, weighed in with 31lb 8oz to take the overal crown.

Jacob Fleet was the top rod in the under-nines, with a total of 25lb 12ox.

Meanwhile, James Bonnett and Dan Parry tied at the top of the 13 to 16-year-old category with 14lb 8oz.

The next match is also at Coloured Ponds in Rake on Saturday, September 22.

n Shaun Barnett triumphed in the MBK Leisures Open at Pump Station, Greatham, last Thursday.

He returned a massive bag of 112lb 14oz to beat his son, Matt Barnett, into second spot.

Barnett jnr bagged 72lb 6oz – more than 15lb ahead of Alex Clements in third spot.

All three fish for the Milo Bordon club – as does Ian Dixon, who finished fourth with 45lb 8oz.

The next MBK Leisures Open is tomorrow at Coloured Ponds, Rake.

n In-form Milo Bordon angler Shaun Barnett built on his MBK Leisure Open win with victory in the final round of the Avon Valley Summer League on Sunday.

Fished at Passies Lake in Lancing, West Sussex, he took the trophy from peg one of 65.

Barnett, whose tactic of fishing into the corners reaped rewards, caught 81lb 14oz using meat and pellet baits.

Second place went to Eddie Green who caught 80lb 8oz on the pole with paste and meat.

Preston Innovations took the team win on the day, sealing the crown as overall winners in the process.
