Tony Butler is celebrating after netting the Ron Snook Memorial Trophy.
The Emsworth angler triumphed in the Portsmouth & District Angling Society competition with a top weight of 39lb 5oz.
Fished at Lakeside, North Harbour, Sunday’s match – in memory of the society’s former chairman – proved a sell out after 30 pegs had been reserved.
Butler’s haul, from peg 53, was exclusively made up of carp, as he used the long pole and method feeder baited with maggot and soft pellet.
Second place went to Butler’s Allan’s Marine team-mate, Jeff Maye, who used similar tactics to land a mixed bag consisting of skimmer bream, cruisons and eight carp for a very respectable 25lb 12oz.
The day also raised £200 for a local cancer charity.
