There is much to fight for in the Avon Valley Summer League after Ian Dixon’s impressive display earned himself victory on Sunday.

The Milo Bordon Red angler caught well from the off with maggot on long pole and scored 125lb 11oz.

Bob Emery, of Arun Angling, was second – catching 99lb 6oz on maggot bait fished over groundbait.

There is now only five points between the top three teams in the league standings.

Preston Delcac (211) lead Tubertini South (209) and Milo Bordon Red (206), with the final round at Bough Beech on September 8.

n The latest MBK Leisures Thursday Open went to Dave Steer with a winning score of 86lb 6oz. Talented junior Karter Whittock had to settle for second with 76lb 4oz.

The next match is at Coloured Ponds tomorrow.

n Jacob Fleet claimed a narrow win in the MBK Leisures Junior Open – after recording 67lb 10oz in the nine-to-12 age-group.

n Six-year-old Cody Howard, has had his hands full with two great catches.

The first was a 7lb 10oz smoothhound caught at Sandy Point using peeler crab on a running ledger rig.

And the second was a 4lb 2oz bass, which was lured at the entrance to Langstone Harbour.
