City are dominant force in relays

Fast times to beat in race two of Lakeside 5k Series

City of Portsmouth dominated the Lakeside Road Relays.

The competition at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, also incorporated the Hampshire Road Relay Championships on Sunday.

The Mountbatten Centre-based side won the senior men’s race.

Tom MacSwayne finished the first leg in 21min 04sec.

Matt Smith then clocked 21.33, before Toby Brimecome recorded 21.23 as he brought the team home.

That gave City a winning time of 1.04.00, with Eastleigh second (1.05.37).

Havant, represented by Matt Gordon (22.18), Craig Berryman (23.21) and Chris Spinks (20.54), secured third place (1.06.33).

Jacob O’Hara ran the joint-fastest under-15 boys’ leg of 9.55, as he led the team to a finishing time of 31.18.

Harry Moore (11.12) and Lachlan Wellington (10.11) made up the gold medal-winning squad.

City of Portsmouth B – Ted Yeates (10.51), Adam Kimber (11.34) and Will Wall (11.43) 
– took bronze.

Josie Czura ran the fastest time in the under-15 girls’ race (10.36).

Her team-mates, Elizabeth Hedley (11.35) and Elizabeth Rose (11.42), were second and third.

City of Portsmouth A won the under-13 boys’ title, with Josh Goldfinch (11.06) leading the way.

Ben Czura (12.07) and Tom Haskell (11.55) also ran well.

City B took bronze as Callum Crook set the best time (11.00).

Olivia Wiseman was quickest in the under-13 girls’ race (11.51) for the victorious City A team.

Cheyenne James (12.21) and Saffron Moore (12.30) completed the success.

The City B squad – Mia Billins (13.11), Charlotte Bullard (13.24) and Hannah Newton (12.43) – secured silver.
