Flying start for new Fareham parkrun

THE new Fareham parkrun proved a big success on Saturday.

A total of 219 runners completed the event in glorious sunshine.

The scenic course at Cams Hall Estate, Fareham was impressive, with some mud and puddles to add to the fun.

City of Portsmouth youngster Lachlan Wellington finished first with a time of 16min 53sec.

Stubbingon Green’s Andy Simpson finished next in a time of 17.08, with Southampton’s Sam Costley third (17.14).

Hedge End’s Karen Andrews finished first lady, clocking a time of 20.38 and Caroline Bamford, of Hungerford Hares, was next in 23.10.

Fareham Crusaders had a great turnout with Mike Gilmour their first finisher in 18.31, while Katherine Morton finished third lady in a time of 23.43.

The parkruns are free events and take place every Saturday, starting at 9am.

Other local parkruns include Havant, Southsea, Queen Elizabeth, Netley Abbey, Lee-on-the-Solent and Chichester.
