The Absolute Running Gosport 5k Series returns tonight (7.30pm).

It is a fast, out-and-back promenade run at Stokes Bay Road, close to the Bayside Cabin Cafe, PO12 2QT.

Victory’s Dan Bailey won races one and two of the series. He finished race two with a time of 16min 43sec.

James Sawyer, from Stubbington Green Runners, finished second in 17.16.

Fareham Crusaders’ Tom Barnard secured third place in a time of 17.47, with City of Portsmouth youngster Adam Kimber fourth (18.13).

Stubbington’s Melissa Hutton-Dunton was first lady in 20.39.

Kayleigh Johns finished second (21.09) and Bayside Tri’s Su Baldock finished third (21.31).

Hosts Absolute Running have ensured it is a popular event on the race calendar.

The atmosphere is great and the race is ideal for beginners and experienced runners alike.

Tonight is race three of four, with the final race in the series on September 9.

Medals are provided for all finishers plus prizes for race winners and winners of vet categories 1 to 7 plus a special series prize for the 1st male and female. Series points are based on best three results.

There is also a children’s 1k sprint at each race at 7.15.
