The final race of the Absolute Running Gosport 5k Summer Series takes place tonight (7pm).

It has been the story of two Dans at the front so far.

Victory AC’s Dan Bailey sped to a double success – taking the first and second races with consistently good times of 16min 40sec and 16.43.

Dan O’Boyle, from Stubbington Green, was first in race three with a new course record of 15.35, with Bailey taking second spot and improving his best series time to 16.30.

The ladies’ race has been led by Stubbington Green Runners.

Melissa Hutton-Dunton was the first lady in both the first and second races of the series (20.36 and 20.39).

Club-mate Susie MacGregor won race three in a very quick 19.22.

City of Portsmouth’s Kayleigh Johns has also been in good form and finished second lady in race two and race three (21.09 and 21.22).

A few places are left for entries on the night.

The main race starts at 7pm and is held at Stokes Bay Road, Gosport, close to the Bayside Cabin Café, PO12 2QT. There is also a children’s 1k sprint before the 5k.
