Newcomers have the chance to test out bowling skills

MANY of the Portsmouth & District League clubs are holding open days on Saturday as they look to attract new members.

The new summer fixtures started this week.

And clubs would welcome more bowlers as they prepare for a busy run of matches and friendly games.

Anyone, young or old, can have a try for free.

All you need to do is take a pair of flat soled shoes.

College Park host their open morning on Saturday at their club in Kensington Road, PO2 0QD, commencing at 10am.

Hayling Island host the second of their two summer open days on Saturday at their club in Hayling Park, Station Road, Hayling Island, PO11 0HB.

They will be open to new bowlers from 10am to 4pm.

Copnor host two open days – the first on Saturday and then again on Saturday, May 7, between 2pm and 4pm, at their Swordsands home at the Eastern Road end of Tangiers Road, PO3 6QA.

Denmead are to hold a session on Saturday, April 30, between 10am and 4pm, at their club in King George V Playing Field, Ashling Park Road, Denmead, PO7 6EH.

Lee-on-the-Solent host a come-and-try day on Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, at the Recreation Ground, Salisbury Terrace, PO13 9DL.

Milton Park Bowling Association host an open day on Sunday, May 15, 10am to 1pm, Milton Park, PO4 8QZ.

Members from the four clubs who play there (Eastney, Milton Park Ladies, Milton Park Men and Priory) will be on hand to help.
