Southsea Waverley begin the defence of their Portsmouth & District League title tomorrow against Rowner at home.

This is a big year for the club as they are aiming to secure the league crown for a 10th season on the bounce.

Skipper Alex Marchant has led the team to their past four wins and he is keen to make that five.

The club have three new signings this year.

They will add crucial strength in depth to a high-quality squad.

John Leggett has joined from Alexandra.

Micheal Aldrin has signed from Southampton and Mark Griffith has switched from Isle of Wight club Cowes Medina.

John Biggs is unavailable for the first game as he is playing in the indoor national Generation Pairs finals on Saturday.

He’ll be in action at Kingsthorpe IBC, going for glory alongside his dad, Dave.
