Heart of Portsmouth’s Ahmed Adenas has been lauded after powering his way to the final of the England Boxing Development Championships.

Competing at 64kg in Class B, the Sudanese national got the split decision against London champion Jeffrey Ofori in Saturday’s semi-final on the Isle of Sheppey.

The 19-year-old will be joined at the finals in the north east next month by Gym01 ABC’s Cain Bradley, who was awarded a walkover against his semi-final opponent, Zeshan Tahir.

Heart of Portsmouth senior coach, Colin Williams said: ‘The last three years all the coaches have worked with Ahmed to teach him, train him and improve his style and fitness.

‘He showed all the experience he has gained from the coaching team at HOP to produce a great performance.’

His trainer Sami Elslamanabi added: ‘What Ahmed has done is great.

‘He works so hard in the gym. He trains every day and at weekends and all his hard work over the last three years has come to fruition.

‘We are all very proud of this young man.’
