A trio of talents helped the Ted Harris Boxing Academy rack up the wins at Leigh Park’s recent show.

The Buckland club enjoyed a hat-trick of successes at the jam-packed event last weekend.

George Harris, Ryan Smith and Tyler Hall were all impressive as they sealed victories.

Harris overcame Max Hamson in their 54kg contest with a unanimous verdict.

The match-up proved to be a rough, tough battle but it was the 15-year-old visiting boxer who did enough to get the decision.

That proved Harris was back to fitness after suffering a hand injury earlier in the season.

And there was more of the same for Smith as he overcame a more experienced opponent in the shape of City of Portsmouth’s Aaron Veal at 45kg.

The pair put on an entertaining bout and came forward incessantly for three rounds.

That ensured the crowd were given good value in a contest that went down well.

It was Smith who was given the decision, although both boxers came away with credit.

Hall could be proud of his efforts as he beat Littlehampton’s Minor Schoolboys finalist Paul Cairnes at 37kg.

Both boxers showed their skills but it was Hall who got on top early on.

That allowed him to coast through the final round and get the impressive decision.

Coach Ted Harris was impressed with what he saw from the trio of young, improving boxers.

He said: ‘They were all good wins.

‘George won against a good boy, Ryan was in a tough contest where they went at it hammer and tongs and Tyler boxed very well scoring and not taking counters.

‘It was good news for the gym which is going really well at the moment.’
