EBONIE JONES’ sensational run of international success has continued with victory at the Female Nations’ Cup.
Heart of Portsmouth’s exciting starlet stormed to a gold medal against some of the top talent on the planet in Serbia.
Jones delivered two impressive wins for England as boxers from 28 different countries came together at the three-day event.
The 15-year-old stopped Kazakhstan’s Diana Tolegulkyzy with a blistering semi-final performance.
And the Charter Academy student followed that up with a final success over Russia’s Anna Krasnoperova.
Despite her opponent’s height advantage and experience, it was Jones who dominated to pick up a points success at 50kg.
It follows her win at the EU Championships last year, on top of a bronze medal at the AIBA World Junior Championships and victory in the Female ABAs.
HOP coach Q Shillingford lauded her latest success
He said: ‘What a result. Ebonie’s mixing with the best in the world – and beating them.’
Jones wasn’t the only boxer from the area to gain international recognition at the competition.
Stacey’s Ashleigh Pond also travelled to Serbia, where she went down to a narrow loss to Algeria’s Zahra Bouarour at 51kg in the youth section of the event.
That follows on from Pond’s success for Team GB at the International Silesian Women’s Championships last year.
