Neil Collins and Rachel Clay bagged the victories in race one of the Portsmouth Duathlon Series.

It proved a great start to the 2015 event.

Portsmouth’s Collins bagged a dominant victory in the men’s opener, finishing with a time of 1hr 1min 46sec.

The Tri Club Port Solent ace completed the first 5k run in 17min 57sec, the 15k bike ride in 24.28, and the second run in 18.22.

Defending men’s series champion Patryk Huczkowski finished second (1.04.03).

Dan Winkworth, from Chichester Westgate Triathlon Club, was third (1.04.33).

Clay, from Petersfield Triathlon Club, lived up to her billing as pre-race favourite with a composed display.

She completed her win in a time of 1.10.31.

Clay did the first run in 20.13, the bike leg in 27.53 and the second run in 21.30.

Hayley King, from Portsmouth Triathletes, finished second (1.18.39).

Victoria Hunt was third (1.18.53) and Emma Gueterbock, from Portsmouth Triathletes, came in fourth (1.19.00).

Race two of the series, sponsored by Aces Ltd and organised by Rob Piggott, takes place on April 12.
