Hampshire star Michael Carberry has been named in England’s Test squad for the Ashes series in Australia.

The 32-year-old left-hander got the call for the recent t20 and one-day international squads, and although he did not play in the t20 games, he fared reasonably well in the one-day series, hitting 63 in the fourth game.

But he clearly impressed the selectors enough to earn his place in the 17-man touring squad, where he will be determined to add to the one Test cap he earned in Bangladesh in 2010.

Meanwhile, Hampshire team-mates James Vince and Danny Briggs have been named in the Performance Programme squad, which will also tour Australia this winter.
