The 2010 and 2012 champions defeated Lancashire by just one run in an epic quarter-final at the Ageas Bowl tonight.

Michael Carberry was once more the star of the show for the home side, smashing an unbeaten 100 off 66 balls in their total of 202 for three.

The visitors refused to go down without a fight, though.

And with knocks of 49 from Karl Brown and 43 not out by Steve Croft they came within a whisker of breaking Hampshire hearts.

But as it is, the Royals’ title defence goes on.
