The final piece in the Hampshire jigsaw has been found.

And the announcement of the Ageas Bowl club’s prized NatWest T20 Blast overseas player is ‘imminent’.

We have got an overseas twenty20 player who is the last piece of our jigsaw in terms of squad

Giles White

Director of cricket Giles White has confirmed the club are set to complete their fourth signing for the 2016 season.

Ryan McLaren and Fidel Edwards have already sealed their return to the county, while Reece Topley will link up with the club after confirming his switch last summer.

White said: ‘We have got an overseas twenty20 player who is the last piece of our jigsaw in terms of squad.

‘The announcement of that is imminent.’

White also revealed he continues to be impressed by Topley, who starred alongside Hampshire skipper James Vince in England’s twenty20 series victory against Pakistan.

He said: ‘Every time I watch Reece when he is playing for England he impresses me.

‘It is exciting having him around.

‘He is obviously a very talented young man who will add strength to our bowling attack in four-day cricket and in the short form.

‘He is a highly-skilled bowler, so we are looking forward to having him in and amongst the group.’
