Hampshire’s Glenn Maxwell has been called up to the Australian one day and t20 squad for their series against Pakistan.
But his maiden inclusion for the trip to the United Arab Emirates could come at the expense of the Royals’ Friends Life t20 bid.
The Australian tour, which incorporates three one-day internationals and three T20 games, takes place from August 28 to September 10.
That will mean the Hampshire fans’ player of the month missing the t20 Finals Day, should the Royals make it to that stage.
Signed from Southern Electric Premier League side South Wilts for the t20 campaign, Maxwell hit impressive match-winning knocks of 66 and 60 against Kent and Essex respectively to help book a quarter-final berth.
The Royals will face Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the last eight at Trent Bridge on Wednesday, July 25.
