Dons keep to double up against Tichborne

Opener George Marshall (140) dominated when the Dons knocked their hosts out of the National Village Cup in the Hampshire final last Sunday.

Marshall terrorised the home bowlers and captain Will Bond is hoping for a repeat as his team return in search for league points.

‘George’s innings was fantastic to watch because he can hit a big ball,’ said Bond.

‘There were lots of boundaries as we totalled 248 off 40 overs which isn’t easy to do.

‘We need to pick up points after falling just short in our previous two league matches.

‘I am not feeling too down about it but we need to start getting ourselves over the winning line.’

In the village knock-out, Hambledon will meet the winners from the Oxford region in just over a week’s time.

In-form Gosport Borough are relishing the chance to take on unbeaten division-three leaders Basingstoke & North Hants II at Privett Park.

Borough vice-captain Lee Harrop believes it is a good time to be meeting them.

He said: ‘We are going into it on the back of two straight wins.

‘On our day if we can put all aspects of our game together we feel we can match anybody in our league.

‘I don’t feel that we have to fear being outgunned or outmatched by our opponents.

‘Our bowling and fielding has been strong and where we have lost games it has been down to our batting.

‘Opening bowler Conor Regan has been in fine form and he is finally taking the wickets his performances deserve.’

Borough are able to name an unchanged side.

Waterlooville welcome Langley Manor to Rowlands Avenue as they look to avoid a third-successive defeat.

Havant II are still searching for a first win as they host St Cross Symondians II.

The home side will take great encouragement from their tie at Ryde in their last outing.
