Hampshire’s Friends Life t20 clash at Surrey on Wednesday has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic death of batsman Tom Maynard.
The 23-year-old son of former England player Matt Maynard died after being struck by a London Underground train.
Giles White’s side host Middlesex tonight but Surrey’s Friends Life t20 game against the Royals at the Kia Oval on Wednesday has been postponed.
A new date will be announced in due course.
The planned England press conference at Surrey’s home has also been cancelled as a mark of respect.
Hampshire’s players have taken to Twitter to pass on their tributes.
Liam Dawson said: ‘Sad to lose a serious cricketer. All thoughts are with the Maynards at this horrific time. Rip Tom Maynard.’
Royals t20 skipper Dimi Mascarenhas said: ‘My thoughts and prayers go out to Matt Maynard family and friends at this horrendous time. Tom will be missed by many. Sad, sad time.’
