Some ruthless batting from James Vince saw Hampshire serve up a Friends Life t20 demolition of Middlesex to go top of south group.
The Royals batsman crashed a brilliant 49-ball 84 - including 12 fours and two sixes - as Dimi Mascarenhas’ side served up a clinical display.
Middlesex posted what seemed a competitive total of 162 for five from their 20 overs, with Dawid Malan (77) top-scoring for the Panthers.
But it was nowhere near enough as Michael Carberry (43) and Vince put on 89 for the first wicket inside seven overs before Carberry was unluckily run out.
Vince and Jimmy Adams (29) then continued in the same fashion to get the Royals to within four runs of the target before both men fell late in the contest.
But Sean Ervine finished the job in the next over to complete a one-sided victory for the defending champions with almost five overs to spare.
