Hampshire took a step closer to regaining the Friends Life t20 crown they won in 2010 with a semi-final triumph over old foes Somerset this afternoon.

The Royals chased down the Taunton outfit’s total of 125 for six to win by six wickets at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff.

The victory – polished off by Simon Katich (32 not out) and Sean Ervine (34 not out) with an over to spare – booked them a spot in tonight’s final, where they will face Yorkshire (6.45pm).

Yorkshire beat Sussex by 36 runs in the first semi-final on finals day.

Whatever happens in the final, though, Hampshire have now qualified for the Champions League in South Africa.
