Hampshire came agonisingly close to plate glory in their pre-season t20 tournament in Barbados.

Derbyshire posted 138 for seven in the final, as David Balcombe once again starred with the ball with two wickets.

Giles White’s men looked set to overhaul the total when they powered to 50 without loss.

But they quickly slumped to 65 for five and, despite Adam Rouse striking 31, they fell one run short of victory when David Griffiths was bowled with one ball remaining.
