TITLE-CHASERS Portsmouth & Southsea recorded a thumping nine-wicket derby win over Locks Heath.

The Hampshire League division one leaders dismissed their visitors for just 143.

Mike Boyd hit 54 for Locks Heath but lacked support.

In reply, the impressive Ash Wallace (73 not out) and Matt Benfield (46 not out) eased the hosts to victory.

Waterlooville recorded a five-wicket win over Purbrook on a difficult Heath wicket.

The home side were skittled out for just 85 after being asked to bat first.

‘The wicket wasn’t easy but we gifted them eight wickets through poor batting,’ said Purbrook captain Sean Figgins.

‘It was an impossible total to defend.’

Ville captain Jon Hudson was happy.

He said: ‘They did well to get the game on.

‘It was a great toss to win and I reckon a hundred would have been a good score.

‘Batting was never easy but we got there by putting away the bad balls.’

Matt Charman (29) and Alex Shepherd (19) saw Ville to their victory target.

Experienced bowler Rob Marchant (five for 32) set Fareham & Crofton on their way to success over Idlers.

Ed White (103 not out) impressed as they chased down 212 runs.

Bedhampton lost by five wickets at St Cross Symondians, with Mike Austin hitting 54 not out.

In Hampshire League division two Wikramasingh (72) and Rob Bowman (55) put Portsmouth II to the sword as Rowner recorded a 48-run success.

Nick Creal took five wickets for 14 runs and Mike Goodwin scored 58 runs as Burridge II beat Mudeford.
