Edward Samson topped the podium at the recent Winchester Criterium & Cycle Fest.

The Solent Pirates talent was incorrectly reported as third in the under-eight boys’ race on the city’s streets.

Instead, Samson actually took the win – making it a dream debut.

The event was a huge success for the Pirates, whose riders hail from the south coast of Hampshire and West Sussex.

Daisy Pattinson was a brilliant third in the girls’ under-10 race.

Amy Perryman also made the podium in the under-14 girls’ contest, while Kara Perryman just missed out as she finished fourth in the under-16 girls’ category.
