CROWDS have poured into Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square to enjoy an evening of elite cycling racing.

The atmosphere is electric as visitors eagerly await the beginning of the Pearl Izumi Tour Series.

Pro riders are set to do sprint laps later this evening in a bid to win the competition.

A set of female grand prix racing is now getting underway, much to the delight of those in attendance.

Julie Hall has made the trip from Surrey to see her daughter, Corrine Hall, 24, race.

Julie said: ‘The atmosphere is great. This is great for the profile of cycling. This is Corrine’s life.’

Stephen Kemp, of Southampton, has turned out with his family.

He said: ‘I enjoy watching cycling and thought it would be great to see it live.’

Dignatries including the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Cllr David Fuller, are also enjoying the occasion.
