JOLLY TAXPAYER B did not let a shortage of players stop them getting their first win of the season in division B as they beat Lord Chichester A 5-4
Kevin Green opened proceedings for Taxpayer but Lord Chichester immediately levelled through Pete Curtis.
David Clarke, Anthony Turner and David Gough gave Taxpayer a 4-1 lead, before Keith Sault notched Chichester’s second.
Taxpayer bagged the points with a win from Tom Money and the remaining ties went to Chichester as walkovers for Pat Reed and Bob Ketchen.
Phoenix North End C won their opening fixture in division C with a 6-3 triumph over Duke of Devonshire.
Pete Smith and Dean Messenbird both gave Phoenix early leads but Duke hit straight back each time, with Paul Simmonds and John Elverson on the mark respectively.
Phoenix wasted no further time in bagging the points as Tony Hedley, Michael Winkley, Trevor Cawte and Gavin Hall rattled off four wins on the trot, with Hall notching a 121 finish.
Kevin Goodall took the final leg as a consolation for Duke.
Artillery Arms B are the early frontrunners in division D following a 5-4 win over Pembroke.
Pembroke took a 2-1 lead, courtesy of legs from Robert Jones and Richard Gabbini either side of an Artillery win from Andrew James.
Artillery then took control as Frank Butcher, Malcolm Smith and Ian Etherington put them 4-2 up.
Glen Stubbs and Martin Downs restored parity for Pembroke, before Malvin Waters took the decider for Artillery.
Druids Arms A’s 6-3 win over Rose in June A leaves their opponents bottom of division E.
James Dugan took the opener for Rose but they were soon trailing as Conner Smith – 18-dart leg and 161 finish – Brett Smith and Neil Hallett propelled Druids to a 3-1 advantage.
Rob Ford pulled one back for Rose but Simon Bowen soon restored Druids’ two-leg advantage.
Dave Lennox moved Rose within a leg of their opponents once more but that was all they could muster, as Darren Maplesden and Brian Dickson took the remaining clashes to give Druids the match.
Fawcett Arms were in fine form in division F as they demolished Phoenix Southsea 8-1.
John Dungworth won the first leg for Fawcett, before Phoenix’s John Nash took the next tie to level.
But it was one-way traffic from then on as Jason Appleton, Tom Morley, Anthony Goodeve, Adam Dungworth and Jon Morley all notched legs for Fawcett, who also claimed the last two legs as walkovers for Michael Crabbe and Steve Goodeve.
Newcome Arms A maintained their winning start to the division A season with a 6-3 victory over Mr Pickwick B.
Dean Jones, Martin Stead and Darren Barnes put Newcome 3-0 up, with Barnes throwing an 18-dart leg and 180 to beat Lee O’Donovan who hit a 145 game-shot.
Steve Rackett and Chris Jafkins reduced Pickwick’s deficit.
Jafkins registered a pair of 18-darters.
Newcome wasted no further time in bagging the points thanks to sets from Dave Robinson, Del Thomson and Frankie Howard, leaving Joe Bridle to take a late consolation for Pickwick.
Bill Sturgess (Admiral Drake B) recorded a 16-dart leg, Ian Pearce and Shane Williams (both Rose in June B) both notched 17-darters and Danny Smith, Adam Lipscombe and Sam Head (All Admiral Drake B) all threw 18-dart efforts, with Head scoring 180 and Smith checking out on 112.
