Martin Harper is celebrating a fine double.

He won both the Gosport Men’s Summer League pairs and the Fareham Ladies’ Summer League Mixed Pairs within just three days.

Representing Foresters Lounge in the Gosport league, Harper partnered with Paul Smith and enjoyed a 4-1 triumph over their team-mates Jeff Robinson and Nick Pateman in the final.

Smith and Harper had previously beaten Martyn Pegram and Mike Symes, also team-mates in the quarter-finals.

A Workman and P Workman, of Market House, lost to Robinson and Pateman in the semis, after the runners-up had defeated Kev Wilkins and Wayne Crossley in the previous round.

Windsor Win’s Rich Clark and Paul Sharp threw both 14 and 16-dart legs, while Workman and Workman recorded two 18-dart legs and Jones hit a 158 finish.

Two nights later Smith and Harper found themselves going head to head in the Fareham ladies’ mixed pairs as they met in the quarter-finals.

And to add further spice, their respective partners were mother and daughter.

Smith played with Corinne Jones while Harper partnered her daughter, Cuckoo Pint’s Emma Jones.

And it was Harper and Emma Jones who took the win, before going on to a successful defence of the title Jones won last year alongside Martyn Pegram.

The duo edged out Q Battery’s Rose Mondey and Justin Bradshaw when, with the final poised at 1-1, Jones won the bull to give the Cuckoo pair the advantage and Harper hit double 12 to seal victory.

Last year’s losing finalists Kirsty Whittington and Martyn Smith, of Lock Stock, were defeated by Mondey and Bradshaw in the last four.

Jones and Harper overcame another Battery duo in their semi, captain Helen Russell and her partner.
