Old House at Home A are still searching for their first points of the season in Portsmouth Men’s Summer League division B after losing 5-4 to Star & Garter.

Star went 2-0 up through Lee Stevenson and Paul Miller.

But Old House immediately restored parity with wins from Derek Sutton and Peter Neale.

Kevin Hookey, Dave Gisby and Gary Haywood gave Star an insurmountable lead, with Haywood sealing victory with an 18-dart leg.

Old House made the scoreline more respectable as John O’Shea and James Marshall took consolation legs.

Rose in June A secured their first win in division C as they dispatched Tap 5-4.

Ian Saynor opened proceedings for Rose but they were soon trailing as Michael McKnight, Mark Wilson and Jason Jeal opened up a 3-1 advantage.

Dave Lennox reduced Rose’s deficit, only for Billy Taylor to hit back.

But momentum then swung to Rose as they claimed all three remaining clashes, with Brian Ford, Robert Ford and Graham Turner all on the mark.

Harvest Home were two players short but even that didn’t stop them beating Phoenix Southsea 6-3 in division D.

Phoenix were awarded the first leg as a walkover for Rob Pithers but their lead didn’t last long as David Place Jnr – with a 180, Graeme Cooper, Nigel Jenkinson and Craig Bridgewater all notched legs for Harvest. Phoenix’s Nick Rizzuto won the next and a walkover for Steve Jackson made it 4-3.

But that was all they could muster as wins from Robert Tomkins and David Place Snr bagged the points.

Newcome Arms A sit third in division A after their 5-4 victory over Stag A.

An 18-dart leg from Joe Bridle helped Stag make a positive start with the first set but Shane Filleul hit straight back to level the match.

Stag regained the lead courtesy of Duncan Cope, only for Dean Jones to square the contest again. Roy Sands put them in front for a third time but a 115 game-shot by Darren Barnes levelled matters and Newcombe kicked on with wins from Steve Filby and Frankie Howard to triumph.

Colin Prout took a consolation for Stag with a 16-dart leg.

Barry Stevens (Admiral Drake B) threw a 16-darter and team-mate Jon Bramble had a 17-dart leg.

Chris Harradine (Rose in June B) recorded two 18-dart efforts and a 180, while Dave Paul (Old House at Home B) threw an 18-dart leg and a 158 finish and Chris Jackson (Admiral Drake B) and Steve Cole (Electric Arms) both registered 18-darters with 130 check-outs.

Terry Dugan (Lord Chichester A) hit a 120 game-shot, Mark Standen (Old House at Home C) checked out on 114 and Jeff Kimber (Jolly Taxpayer C) and Allen Lloyd (Mr Pickwick A) both hit 100 finishes.

Sam Palmer (Shearer Arms) and Terry Griffiths (Graham Arms B) fired in maximums.
