Newcome Arms A will face Admiral Drake B in the final of the Portsmouth Men’s Winter League Challenge Cup after both sides triumphed 6-3 in their semi-finals.
Newcome led throughout their match against Mr Pickwick B with Frankie Howard and Dean Jones putting them 2-0 up.
Mark Donnelly got Pickwick off the mark but Steve Filby immediately restored Newcome’s two-leg lead.
An 18-dart leg from Darren Barnes pulled Pickwick back to 3-2 but Newcome then ensured progression to the final as Del Thomson and Shane Filleul were on the mark.
John Richmond added Newcome’s sixth, leaving Pickwick’s Liam Jafkins to take the last clash as a consolation.
Drake also overcame a Pickwick side – beating Mr Pickwick A.
Gary Collis and Jon Bramble both gave Drake early leads but each time Pickwick hit back as Connor Hurry and Malcolm Ogden restored parity.
Drake then took control with an 18-dart leg by James Brooker and win from Barry Stevens.
Phil Rudder kept Pickwick in the match but Ricky Williams then booked Drake’s place in the final leaving team-mate Sam Head to cap the night with an 18-darter.
Pelham Arms moved into the final of the plate as the division B promotion-chasers demolished Old House at Home C, from division E, 7-2.
Old House took the initial lead as Kalvin Legg and Mark Brooks jnr put them 2-0 up.
However, it was one-way traffic from then on as Wes Farminer kick-started Pelham with an 18-dart leg before Robert Blake, Bruce Baker, Paul Wain, Ricky Udy and Paul Slingsby all notched wins.
They also claimed the last leg as a walkover for Stephen Marsh.
Their opponents in the final will be fellow division B side Graham Arms A, who came from behind to enjoy a derby triumph over division C’s Graham Arms B.
Lester Miles, Keith John and Derick Corney put the B team 3-1 up after Mark Mihell took the opener. The A team reduced their deficit to one through Paul Skeates before Dean Barlow put Graham B 4-2 up.
However, the A team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with Alan Duffin, Jay Carter and Rob Knowles giving them a 5-4 win.
Newcome Arms B missed the chance to move top of division D as they went down 5-4 to third-placed Druids Arms.
Brian Dickson and Alan Smith put Druids 2-0 up but Newcome then moved ahead courtesy of Alex Adams – 100 game-shot – Chris Walls and Asa Norris.
A walkover for Jeffery Link put Druids back on level terms and Keith Horn and Pete Smith then bagged the points.
Ron Neale took the last leg as a consolation for Newcome.
